Bride

It was my first day at a new job working at Joyner Marina. Towards late morning a group of boys on a boat approach the dock. So many shiny boys to admire, but one in particular boy named Ken, caught my eye ;) After a few minutes of talking, other boats approach the dock and I got busy. Ken soon after approaches me and tells me he is leaving his number on a piece of paper. Completely eager to hang out, I call as soon as I'm off work! We hung out that evening and he kept coming back each weekend from Durham. Almost 2 years later....Here we are!

Melissa and I met when a friend of mine that I was staying with asked me to come down to the beach for the weekend.  My rotation at Duke was really busy but I needed a downtime weekend.  One day, we cruised by a dock to get ice before we head out and there was the hot girl working the dock that day.  I ended up leaving my number and we went out later that night.  We came down again the next weekend.  Mel and I ended up spending quite a bit of time together and we knew that we wanted to stay together despite the fact that we had no plans and no real clue how things would work out.  My first job brought me to Charlottesville, VA; a 5 hour drive away.  I then got an opportunity to take a job in NYC(!) and I couldn't turn it down.  With Melissa knowing that we would be further apart, she still wanted me to go knowing that in the end, this would be a great opportunity not only for me, but for us.  A year has passed since then and here we are, engaged and she has moved up.  We don't know everything the future holds, but we know together, we will survive, thrive, and enjoy our lives to the fullest!
