We finally arrive in Chiang Mai on Sunday when the Old Walled City boasts a Sunday night walking street market. After a long journey it will be wonderful to stretch our legs, walk into the old city, visit street vendors, and have yummy local food!

While in Chiang Mai we can't wait to be fed and entertained with dinner and dancing (it will be our reception part deux, only with Thai strangers). Local hill tribes will perform the traditional Finger, Sword and Candle dances while we feast on classical dishes. We will participate in the final dance, called Ramwong.

Elephant Safari and Bamboo Rafting

Elephant Safari and Bamboo Rafting

This will be a full day of adventure. We'll travel about 30 miles outside the city to an elephant rescue camp to learn about their care and daily life, followed by a 1 hour elephant ride through the jungle. We'll break for a locals lunch (hope this doesn't mean fried crickets) and then ride down the Ping River on a bamboo raft. The day will wrap up in the evening with a visit to Chiang Mai's main orchid farm.
