Loving Life!

Our Story

Our Engagement Story written by Duane
The day was June 15, 2008. Spotlights Theater and Dance Spring Recital at the Douglas Wilder Performing Arts Center in Norfolk, VA. After amazing performances from the students of the studio, it was time for the teacher showcase. As I took the stage to perform a routine, all I could think about was what was coming up.

The end of the routine was near and Tasha ( great friend and bridesmaid) knew what to do. I had a shirt on underneath that I had custom made for this moment. I took my shirt off exposing the letters on the undershirt and acted as if I was hyping up the crowd. That was Tasha's cue. Tasha and all of the adult students came out onto the stage, with Laura, in the midst of the crowd. As I came to the end of my routine, I turned to Laura, dropped on one knee and..........."WILL YOU MARRY ME?"

The custom made shirt had "Will you marry me?" on it. The students knew that I was going to ask Laura to be my eternal partner, but, the 500+ in the audience had no idea and were treated to an additional show. A "stamp" of our life commitment to each other. As the music of Craig David played in the background with the roars and cheers from both, the crowd and the students, the word "YES" is all I could hear! Embraced in each others arms, we celebrated with everyone present.

Thank you Laura Lee Crotts for choosing me to spend the rest of our lives and after together. I know that GOD has brought us together for the purpose to better each of our lives. Not just our lives, but, those that surround us. As we approach "OUR DAY OF UNITY", every morning I feel blessed to be able to have you in my life. And to those that are reading this, you are a friend of faith, hope, trust and love and we thank you! September 18, 2010!!
