Richard officially pulled off the worst kept secret of 2013. Everybody knew what was coming- even I did- but he still managed to pull it off at 7 am on a Sunday morning with the help of our four-legged baby, Maeby. Rich tried to surprise me with a weekend trip to New Orleans for Jazzfest (this year being the first time that we weren't going). Little did I know, he had other plans. He called my boss and got me a weekend off work (which as every friend of mine knows, is a difficult thing in my industry, as hairdressers work every Saturday).Since I see my schedule, I found out about the weekend off, and immediately my mind started ticking. On top of that, everyone and their mother kept slipping up and telling me clues to what was going on. All I kept thinking was, poor Rich, he has gone to a lot of effort to do this, so I just let it be, went with it, and hoped he didn't find out that I knew.

However, all of my friends (including my maid of honor who literally was texting him right in front of me), told him I knew exactly what was going on. So Rich went to Plan B, and surprised me the weekend before, on April 28th. We were supposed to go to a baptism that morning and then to brunch with friends. He woke me at 7 am, which I was NOT happy about happening on a Sunday morning. He proceeded to call our dog into the bedroom to join us for some morning snuggles. She hopped in the bed and next thing I know Rich is out the bed, acting weird. The ring had been tied to Maebys collar and had fallen off! Rich began to worry that she had eaten the ring; Maeby likes to eat; and he started freaking out. Coming back in the room, he switched on the lights and saw the ring. I was turning the opposite way and didn't see what was going on, so he re-tied the ring to Maebys collar. I still wasn't paying attention, so in desperation, he finally took the ring off the collar and proposed there, in bed, with Maeby hovering over. After about 10 minutes of talking about how ridiculous the past 6 weeks had been leading up to this, I finally saw my ring. Love. We proceeded to go to brunch and had the best day of our lives, celebrating with our closest friends and family. That night, Rich later realized he had never got down on one knee because we had been in bed, so after 12 hours he re-proposed and, of course, I said YES!
